High School Descriptions Creative Writing Topics
1. Foreshadow Descriptions Prompt
Write a scene that ends with a hit-and-run. Use description to foreshadow and build tension.
2. Point Of View Descriptions Prompt
There are two men in a train. Describe the train and the countryside from the point of view of the man who is going to see his daughter for the first time in 15 years without mentioning the daughter. Then describe the same train and countryside from the point of view of the man who is going to his father's funeral without mentioning the father or the funeral.
3. Perspective Description Prompt
Describe a bed from the perspective of a 4-year-old. Then describe the bed from the perspective someone who is 13, 18, 21, 30, 45, and 60. Never explicitly state the character's age.
4. Character Description Prompt
Reveal a character's profession just by describing their hands.
5. Location Writing Prompt
Map out a town and describe it. Consider the population, the main source of jobs or industry, how many schools there are, whether it leans right or left, how much diversity there is, what the main religion is. Then write a story that takes place in the town.
